How Britain Influenced Modern Art

VAN GOGH AND THE VICTORIANS

Wednesday 24th April 2019 - 10:30 am

Van Gogh understood the Victorian values of ‘empathy’ and ‘compassion’ in a way that evaded his Parisian contemporaries. Fiona will trace the impact on British Art in the 19th and 20th century of this alternative visual tradition. This talk links to The EY Exhibition: Van Gogh and Britain at Tate Britain.
