The Cambridge-based 15-piece jazz orchestra Harmony In Harlem return for their third performance at The Cut with another programme of authentic Duke Ellington. Extended versions of "Black & Tan Fantasy" and "The Mooche" form an exploration into Ellington jungle sounds alongside vibrant swing from the most famous composer/bandleader in jazz history.

Michael Kilpatrick, musical director of Harmony In Harlem, produces authentic and accurate transcriptions researched from Duke Ellington's original manuscripts. The band premiered a transcription of the 1957 Shakespearan Suite "Such Sweet Thunder" at The Cut in 2014, and went to perform the Ellington/Strayhorn version of "The Nutcracker Suite" in Cambridge in 2017.

Harmony In Harlem's repertoire explores the full breadth of Ellingtonia from the 1930s through to the 1960s - a repertoire unique amongst performing jazz orchestras in the UK.
