YOUNG POETS PARADE

Friday 19th October 2018 - 7:00 pm

LED BY IEVA FLAMINGO ANNUAL DISPLAY OF YOUNG POETIC TALENT

Note earlier starting time! SEATING IS UNRESERVED FOR THIS EVENT

Presented in partnership with Poetry People

Roll-up for the annual showcase of this year’s dazzling display of young poetic talent. Taking to the stage will be the ten gifted winners of this year’s Suffolk Young Poets Competition (one of the UK’s oldest showcases for children’s writing) sharing their funny, surprising, poignant poems.
They’ll be joined by Ieva Flamingo, Latvia’s answer to Allan Ahlberg. A prolific and prize-winning children’s poet, Ieva’s first UK publication The Noisy Classroom celebrates the highs and lows of childhood and the universal rituals, trials and triumphs of school life. Ieva is an engagingly mischievous performer, ably supported by her translator Richard O’Brien. This will be the first time that a poet in translation stars as the headline guest reader at the Suffolk Young Poets Parade.
A brilliant celebration of the best words in the best possible order, suitable for children of all ages – from five to ninety-five!

Grateful thanks to The Limbourne Trust for funding support and to Silk Pearce for sponsorship
