Dir: Elia Kazan, 1955, USA, 118 mins.
With James Dean, Julie Harris, Raymond Massey, Richard Davalos.

Directed by Elia Kazan (On the Waterfront), based on the classic novel by John Steinbeck, featuring James Dean in his first starring role - with such a pedigree how could this film be anything other than a classic.  The biblical tale of Cain and Abel is played out in 1917 California with Dean as Cal, the younger sibling fighting for the love of his father.  It’s the performance of a lifetime made even more poignant by Dean’s untimely death in 1955.
