Dir: Anthony Minghella, 1996, UK, 162 mins.
With Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Kristin Scott Thomas, Colin Firth.

A winner of nine Oscars, based on the Booker-winning novel by Michael Ondaatje.  Hanna is the nurse who cares for the misnamed, badly burnt, 'English' patient.   When his lost memory begins to return his past is seen in flashbacks and his identity is gradually revealed.  It's a poetic, evocative film, the narrative multi-layered and mysterious, while Italy and Africa provide beautiful settings.  Definitely one to see on the big screen.
