Twenty years on this outstanding film is, if anything, even more relevant than when it was first released.  Then France was experiencing a wave of strikes and violence when the story of three young men living in the wretched housing projects outside Paris had a particular significance.  Their visit to the city’s centre gives rise to comedy and tragedy as they face the extent of their isolation from society.
