Bert Stern and Aram Avakian's famous and highly acclaimed documentary captures some of the biggest names in contemporary jazz in performance at the 1958 Newport Festival. The film intersperses performances from a wide variety of artists including Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Anita O'Day, and Dinah Washington, with footage of the audience and the Americas Cup yacht race which was underway at the time.
