How to Speak Shakespeare’s Verse Workshop

TWO WORKSHOP SPECIALS WITH JENNY HALL

HOW TO SPEAK SHAKESPEARE’S VERSE

Jenny Caron Hall, daughter of RSC founder Sir Peter Hall and Hollywood actress Leslie Caron, teaches the method her father
taught her when he cast her as Miranda in The Tempest at the National Theatre. The poetic and rhetorical devices employed by Shakespeare are often ignored by readers, actors and academics. But when faithfully observed these simple tools, which have been handed down through the great theatre companies for centuries, give each new generation the skill to reveal Shakespeare with perfect clarity and give optimum power to bold new interpretations.

Sat April 27th - 4.15pm - 5.45pm
Sun April 28th - 2.30pm - 4pm
Price £6 for Teens, £10 for Adults

Adapted by Kolbrun Bjort Sigfusdottir, this production immerses the entire audience by inviting them to become players. Hamlet is a director with the aim of ensuring that the truth of his story is told. Scripts are tentatively handed to cautious volunteers in what they are assured is a safe, nurturing environment.
