Fabian Peake - Figuratively Speaking
A Pineapple's Disdain'. Oil paint on canvas 56cm x 66cm. 2017
The hunter is in the river where there is room to see. The delta is preferable, though its tributaries and channels are unknown. At rest on the large oak table, the head dreams of journeys up brick- strewn pathways and dead ends. It will follow the vagaries of the brain’s migrations and stumble upon glorious mistakes. A tapir appeals to the wood pigeon’s feathered gown. The delta’s fingers beckon, inviting trial by briar bush and boatyard. True recognition will not be seen on a cobalt Tuesday, for his boots will sink into the mud. Don’t tell me what’s round the corner – for all I know the extraordinary may be bound up in the ordinary. An upright, bandaged up, finds its position on the edge. Tell me the way to go and provide a filbert or even a quill with which to scratch down my thoughts; I like circles but they can lack surprise.
